Magharibi House
Located in Nungwi on the North Coast of Zanzibar
Magharibi House is a private home with three bedrooms for rent at reasonable rates. We are located in Nungwi, on the North Coast of Zanzibar Island. Ahmed Kassim, from Zanzibar who has many years experience helping travelers, and Juli McGruder, a retired American college professor who did research in Zanzibar, are your hosts. Ahmed and Juli can help you make the most of your stay on the island and can arrange for all of your travel needs.
Magharibi means west and sunset in Kiswahili. Our veranda is an ideal place to watch the setting sun sink into the Indian Ocean.
Built in 2005-6 Magharibi House includes many of the architectural features of the great old houses in Zanzibar’s ancient “Stone Town,” but with modern twists. We’ve incorporated many “green” ideas in our design. We grow our some of our own fruits, vegetables, chickens and eggs.
We also own a flat and manage others in Stone Town, so we can arrange a “Town and Beach” package for you, if that is to your liking.
